چکیده
Acid mine drainage is an environmental issue impairing water sources globally. Efficient and continuous treatment in mining regions urgently required. Therefore, this research aimed to evaluate the use of claystone from coal overburden, zeolite, activated carbon coconut shell as a composite remove Fe Mn acid drainage. XRD, BET, SEM characterized adsorbent. The X-Ray Diffraction analysis showed types mineral were kaolinite, zeolite: mordenite, carbon: cristobalite. Composite made with three ratios (Claystone:Zeolite:Activated carbon) = 50:25:25; 25:25:50; 25:50:25. According surface area analyzer, 25:25:50 ratio had largest (62,44 m2/g). SEM-EDX that porous morphology active sites such Al Si. Adsorption was carried out using hot plate stirrer various contact time: 30,60,90,120 150 minutes. results succeeded increasing pH 2.6 7.0 reducing concentration 13.006 0.1484 ppm (98,86%) 30.59 20.283 (33,69%). adsorption capacities 1,286 mg/g for 1,031 Mn. It can be concluded good adsorbent removing iron

Heavy Metals from Acid Mine Drainage in Coal Mines-A Case Study
Acid drainage is most common problem or associated with almost all mines containing sulphide deposits and coal containing high pyrite. Acid drainage is caused when rain water and or seepage from rock formation interact with sulphur bearing minerals. It produces water of high acidity with higher metal concentration. Acid drainage is most susceptible to dissolve heavy metals particularly Iron, Zi...

متن کاملHeavy metals from acid mine drainage - impacts and modelling strategies
Mine drainage is increasingly becoming a problem in the UK as water tables rise and acid drainage waters rich in heavy metals impact river systems. The impacts of mine drainage at two sites, the River Pelenna in Wales and the Wheal Jane Mine in Cornwall is assessed. Mathematical models have been developed and applied to investigate heavy metal pollution in the Pelenna case study and the models ...
